The Giant Talon 4 2027 – Cyber Lime is a versatile aluminium hardtail mountain bike built for recreational trail riding, fitness and everyday adventures. With a lightweight ALUXX frame, suspension fork, simple microSHIFT Acolyte 1×8 drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes, it delivers comfortable and confident handling across bike paths, gravel roads and local Perth trails.
Giant’s ALUXX-Grade aluminium frame uses updated tube shaping to reduce weight while maintaining the strength and durability required for everyday and off-road riding. Internal cable routing creates a clean appearance, while integrated chainstay protection helps reduce noise and frame damage over rough terrain. Clearance for tyres up to 2.4 inches also gives riders the option to fit wider tyres as their riding progresses.
The Talon 4 is offered with 27.5-inch or 29-inch wheels depending on the selected frame size. Extra Small uses 27.5-inch wheels, while Small riders can choose between 27.5-inch and 29-inch versions. Medium, Large and Extra Large use 29-inch wheels. The smaller option provides easier handling and greater clearance for shorter riders, while the larger wheels improve rollover performance, stability and efficiency across uneven terrain.
An SR Suntour XCE 28 coil suspension fork helps absorb bumps, trail chatter and uneven surfaces. The Extra Small and 27.5-inch Small models receive 80mm of travel, while the 29-inch Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large versions provide 100mm. This size-specific approach helps maintain balanced handling and a suitable riding position across the complete frame range.
The microSHIFT Acolyte 1×8 drivetrain keeps gear changes simple, dependable and easy to understand. Its wide-range 12-46T cassette provides useful climbing gears without the added complexity of a front derailleur. A clutch-equipped microSHIFT Acolyte M5185M rear derailleur improves chain control and reduces drivetrain movement over rough surfaces, making the Talon 4 well suited to new mountain bikers and mixed-terrain riding.
Tektro HD TKD-176 hydraulic disc brakes provide smooth and predictable stopping power across dry, dusty and wet conditions. The 160mm front and rear rotors offer controlled braking for recreational trails, gravel paths and everyday riding. Compared with mechanical disc brakes, the hydraulic system requires less hand effort and provides more consistent control, helping newer riders feel confident on descents and loose surfaces.
Giant GX03V double-wall alloy rims are paired with Maxxis Ikon 2.2-inch wire-bead tyres in the appropriate 27.5-inch or 29-inch wheel size. The Ikon’s fast-rolling tread works well across hardpacked trails, gravel, rail paths and general fitness riding while still providing useful grip on loose surfaces. The wheels are not listed as tubeless-ready, making the standard setup best suited to conventional inner tubes.
The Talon 4 is ideal for riders purchasing their first proper mountain bike or wanting a dependable and versatile bike for local trails, paths and weekend exploring. Its lightweight frame, simple 1x drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes and choice of wheel sizes make it accessible for a broad range of riders. Those wanting a wider 9-speed cassette, Boost front thru-axle and more trail-focused suspension may prefer the Talon 2.
