The Giant Reign Advanced 2 2024 – Sangria is a race-developed carbon enduro mountain bike created for steep descents, technical trails and aggressive all-mountain riding. Its full Advanced-Grade Composite chassis combines 160mm of Maestro rear suspension with a 170mm Fox 38 fork, delivering the control and confidence needed to tackle demanding terrain at speed.
Giant’s Maestro suspension system provides 160mm of controlled rear-wheel travel, helping the Reign remain composed through rough rock gardens, large impacts and high-speed corners. The trunnion-mounted Fox Float Performance shock uses a longer 62.5mm stroke, while Giant’s Advanced Forged Composite upper rocker increases stiffness without adding unnecessary weight. Up front, the Fox 38 Rhythm fork provides 170mm of travel with a GRIP damper and Giant-specific tune. Its stiff 38mm chassis improves steering precision under heavy braking and through demanding terrain, making it well suited to enduro racing, shuttle days, technical trails and bike-park riding.
A three-position Maestro flip chip provides Low, Mid and High geometry settings. Depending on the selected position, the head angle can be adjusted between 63.5 and 64.2 degrees, while the bottom bracket drop changes between 35mm and 25mm. Low creates a slacker and more planted feel for steep, fast terrain, Mid provides a balanced all-round setup, and High increases pedal clearance and sharpens the handling for tighter or more technical trails.
The Reign Advanced frame accepts either the standard 29-inch rear wheel or a smaller 27.5-inch rear wheel. The full 29-inch setup maximises stability, traction and rollover performance when riding rough terrain at speed, while changing to a 27.5-inch rear wheel creates a mixed-wheel configuration with a more agile and playful feel. The three-position flip chip can then be used to compensate for the change and fine-tune the resulting geometry.
A Shimano SLX 1×12 drivetrain delivers reliable shifting with a wide-range 10-51-tooth cassette. The 32-tooth Shimano SLX crankset provides an effective balance between climbing range and descending speed, while the single-chainring design keeps operation straightforward on technical trails. Shimano four-piston BR-MT520 hydraulic brakes provide strong and predictable stopping power, with oversized 220mm front and 200mm rear rotors helping to manage heat during long and demanding descents.
Giant AM 29 rims feature a 30mm internal width and arrive prepared for tubeless use. The front-specific Maxxis Assegai uses 3C MaxxTerra rubber and an EXO+ casing for dependable cornering grip and protection, while the rear Maxxis Minion DHR II combines 3C MaxxTerra rubber with a stronger DoubleDown casing for increased impact and puncture protection. A Giant Contact Switch AT dropper post, MRP chain guide and integrated downtube storage complete a practical build that is ready for serious trail and enduro use.
The Reign Advanced 2 is best suited to experienced mountain bikers who prioritise descending performance but still want a bike capable of being pedalled to the top. It is an excellent choice for enduro racing, shuttle-assisted riding, bike-park sessions and technical Western Australian trails. Riders looking for a lightweight cross-country bike or relaxed recreational mountain bike may be better suited to a shorter-travel model, as the Reign is designed for riders who will make use of its aggressive geometry and long-travel suspension.
